The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
