The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
