The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches the skin; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
