He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
