Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
