Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
