So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
