He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
