Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
