The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
