The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
