Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
