The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
