The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
