And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders. 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 We perpetuated his praise in later generations. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all beings!' 79 Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. 80 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 But they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 Then he turned towards their gods and said: "Why do you not eat (of these offerings)? 91 "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 whereupon people came to him running. 94 "Why do you worship these you carve yourselves," he asked, 95 and God created you and what you make?' 96 They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire. 97 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the lower ones. 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me a righteous (son)' 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And when he reached the age of traveling with him, he said: 'My son, while I was sleeping I saw that I shall slaughter (sacrifice) you, tell me what is your opinion' He replied: 'Father, do as you are ordered (by Allah). Allah willing, you shall find me one of those who are steadfast' 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 We called to him, "O Abraham, 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself. 106 Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim. 107 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. 108 Peace be with Abraham. 109 That is how We reward those who do good. 110 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among the offspring of the two some did good and some plainly wronged themselves. 113
