The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
