Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
