And this Qur'an is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 The Trustworthy Spirit, Angel Jibreel - peace be upon him, brought it down. 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy for a few years more, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
