The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
