The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
