The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
