The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
