The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
