The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
