Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
