He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
