And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
