And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
