The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
