The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 and restraining [from evil] by a call to restraint, 2 and conveying [to all the world] a reminder: 3 surely your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 [so that] they [who seek to learn the unknowable] should not be able to overhear the host on high, but shall be repelled from all sides, 8 cast out [from all grace,] with lasting suffering in store for them [in the life to come]; 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. 11 Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock 12 They pay no attention when they are reminded 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; 15 "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 They will say, "Woe to us!" (They will be told), "This is the day of receiving recompense". 20 This is the Day of Judgment which ye were wont to belie. 21
