The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
