A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 [Say (O Muhammad SAW) to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliya' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allah), besides Him (Allah). Little do you remember! 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And those whose (deeds) are lighter in the scale shall perish for violating Our signs. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
