A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 No cry did they utter when Our Torment came upon them but this: "Verily, we were Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)". 5 Then We will surely question those to whom were the messengers sent, and We will surely question the sent ones. 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 The weighing that day is true; he whose scales are heavy -- they are the prosperers, 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
