A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 And certainly We have established you in the earth and made in it means of livelihood for you; little it is that you give thanks. 10
