A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 A Book sent down to thee -- so let there be no impediment in thy breast because of it -- to warn thereby, and as a reminder to believers: 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
