۞ And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)? 65 The chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: Most surely we see you in folly, and most surely we think you to be of the liars. 66 Said [Hud]: "O my people! There is no weak-mindedness in me, but I am an apostle from the Sustainer of all the worlds. 67 I deliver to you the messages of my Lord and I am a faithful adviser to you: 68 Marvel ye that an admonition from your Lord should come unto you upon a man from amongst you in order that he may warn you? Remember what time He made you successors after the people of Nuh, and increased you amply in stature. Remember the benefits of Allah, that haply ye may fare well. 69 They said: art thou come unto us that we should worship God alone and leave that which our fathers were wont to worship? Bring thou then upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us if thou sayest sooth. 70 He answered: 'The punishment and wrath of your Lord has already fallen upon you. Would you dispute with me about names which you and your fathers have invented, and for which no authority has been sent down from Allah? Wait if you will, I am waiting with you' 71 So We delivered him, and those with him, by a mercy from Us; and We cut off the last remnant of those who cried lies to Our signs and were not believers. 72
