The chiefs of Firon's people said: most surely this is an enchanter possessed of knowledge: 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
