The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
