The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
