The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus was the truth established, and their doings proved in vain. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
