In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra; these are verses of the Book and the bright Qur’an. 1 Perchance the unbelievers will wish that they had surrendered: 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 Why do you not bring down angels upon us if you are indeed truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 And assuredly We have sent apostles before thee among the sects of the ancients. 10 But no Messenger came to them except he was mocked. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
