The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear. 1 It could be that those who disbelieve will wish that they were Muslims. 2 leave them to eat, and to take their joy, and to be bemused by hope; certainly they will soon know! 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would still have said: "Surely our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been enchanted." 15
