The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And not an apostle came unto them but at him they were wont to mock. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
