Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
