We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
