Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
