The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
