Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
