Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Kaf. Ha. Ya. A'in. Sad. 1 This is the remembrance of the mercy of your Lord upon His bondman Zakaria. 2 When he called to his Lord a private supplication. 3 He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. 4 "Now, behold, I am afraid of [what] my kinsfolk [will do] after I am gone, for my wife has always been barren. Bestow, then, upon me, out of Thy grace, the gift of a successor 5 Who should inherit me and inherit from the children of Yaqoub, and make him, my Lord, one in whom Thou art well pleased. 6 'O Zachariah, We give thee good tidings of a boy, whose name is John. No namesake have We given him aforetime.' 7 He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age? 8 He answered: "So shall it be." Your Lord says: "It is easy for Me," and then added: "For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing." 9 He said, "My Lord, grant me a sign!" He said, "Your sign will be that you will not speak to anyone for three successive days and nights, although sound in body." 10 So he came forth unto his people from the Sanctuary, then he made signal to them, 'Give you glory at dawn and evening.' 11 'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child, 12 And tenderness from Our presence and purity, and he was God-fearing. 13 and cherishing his parents, not arrogant, rebellious. 14 And peace on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the day he is raised to life 15
