The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 He intends to turn you out of your land. What counsel do you then give? 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ whereupon the truth was established, and vain was proved all that they had been doing. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
